Boys Will Be Boys!

Maybe you thought you have seen all the graduation pictures!
Well you have seen the important ones!
But I am so grateful for Jeremy Weaver taking pictures and I love this row of snapshots, I had to share them! 

When boys get bored while waiting for the excitement to start!

They had obviously done this before!

But not while Mom was watching!

I had visions of broken legs and bleeding heads.

I'm not sure how this would have ended, but knowing the resourcefullness of boys, they would have survived!

But I wasn't taking any chances!


I was going to put these on my last blog and forgot. I spent several hours puzzling over how to write an attachment letter. All I can say is, just sit down and do it! The students were very pleased with them!

    Every Sunday morning and one Wednesday evening a month you will find us gathered at Abbina Mennonite church.  We sit on a mixture of plastic chairs and wooden benches. And we ourselves are quite a mixture. Besides our mission families there are two to three native adults that attend regularly and then anywhere from 15 to 50 children, ages 2 to 18. This means that it is not a matter of training our own children to sit quietly during church, it also means training other peoples children to sit quietly. It can be quite a challenge and some Sundays are great and some, hardly anyone gets much out of the sermon. We Are Not Home Yet

   This story is one Kenny came across and it was at a time that I needed to hear it. I did some research and even though some accounts of the story say it was Theodore Roosevelt that was the politician and Henry Morrison was the missionary, I also found places that it is a fictional story. For that reason, I am going to tell the story as we first heard it, without any names.         A missionary and his wife were sailing home from serving most of their lives on the mission field in Africa. They were tired, worn out and discouraged from the many hard things they had faced over the past 40 years. They had given their all and were coming home with nothing to show for it.   On this same boat was a politician who had just spent ten days in Africa hunting big game. Christmas Greetings!

    We often get asked if they celebrate Christmas in Ghana, or how they celebrate Christmas. In many ways it is similar, in many ways it is different. The most obvious is the weather and did you ever think about how much Christmas decor, songs and even food center around cold, snowy weather. Well even though we don't have the snow, you still see decorations with snow flakes and hear people sing Jingle Bells.   I really think Christmas itself is celebrated well. We were invited to our local school for their Christmas Caroling. And many schools would have a special morning of singing carols and have a Christmas party of some kind before they go on Christmas break. There have been a lot of church services. Some "all night", more like 9 - 12, like the one just across a field from us that we listened to the sermon after we went to bed since they had very loud loud speakers!   Sadly Christmas is overshadowed by the party that happens between Christmas and New Years.
